As 2025 gets underway, it’s the perfect time to reflect on the incredible progress and memorable moments of the past year. At Bathgate Silica Sand, 2024 was a year filled with milestones, advancements, and heartfelt celebrations, thanks to the dedication of our team and the support of our valued customers.

Operational Milestones

In 2024, we made significant strides in enhancing our infrastructure and processes:

  • New Processing Plant: Early in the year, we installed a state-of-the-art processing plant on our South site. Featuring the longest conveyor in our history, the plant brings enhanced efficiency and innovation. This upgrade was designed to improve production consistency, minimize maintenance, and increase capacity by up to a third – positioning us to meet growing customer demands.
  • Sand Silos Commissioning: The second half of the year focused on infrastructure improvements, including the installation of four new sand silos. Now fully commissioned, these silos represent our commitment to ensuring long-term reliability and readiness for the next chapter of our journey.

People Achievements

Our people are the heart of everything we do, and 2024 was a year to honour their dedication and contributions:

  • Work Anniversaries: We celebrated several long-service milestones, including 10, 20, and even 30 years of service. A special highlight was marking 60 years of leadership from our Chairman, Rod Walker, with a commemorative lunch, new fleet livery and a timeline in our boardroom and on the group website highlighting key milestones.
  • Promotions and New Arrivals: Andy Robinson at our sister company Arclid Transport and Clayton Mountford here at Silica Sand took on new roles, bringing fresh energy to our operations. And on a personal note, Clayton welcomed twin daughters – a wonderful reminder that growth happens both on-site and at in our personal lives!
  • Charitable Efforts: Our team made a meaningful impact through charity runs, the Three Peaks Challenge, and a Christmas Toy and Food Appeal donating to local organizations that was also supported by the company.

Health, Safety, and Community

With the appointment of John Wallace as QHSE Manager, we prioritized health and safety across all sites. His vision brought updated procedures and initiatives, ensuring a safe environment for everyone.

We also remained deeply connected to our community, engaging in charitable endeavours and fostering partnerships that reflect our values.

Looking Ahead

As we move forward into 2025, we carry the momentum of a transformative year. New challenges and opportunities lie ahead, and we’re ready to embrace them with the same commitment to excellence and innovation that defined 2024.

To our employees, customers, and partners – thank you for being part of this journey. Here’s to a successful and prosperous 2025!
