Our esteemed Chairman, Commodore Rod Walker, has consistently demonstrated his commitment to giving back through the Bathgate Walker Trust. His philanthropic efforts have significantly benefited numerous charities, particularly within his home region of the North West including Liverpool Cathedral, one of the key beneficiaries located in his home city.
Rod Walker, known for his humility, was profoundly moved when his charitable contributions to the cathedral were recognised during The People’s Service on Sunday, July 21, 2024. This special event marked the 100th anniversary of the consecration of Liverpool Cathedral. During the ceremony, the Dean and congregation paid tribute to the charitable endeavours of Rod, his wife Ann, and the Bathgate Walker Trust.
Members of the Bathgate Group and Bathgate Silica Sand were present at the service and dedication, which celebrated their Chairman’s generosity. Also in attendance were many prominent figures from Liverpool and the Christian community.
Rod’s longstanding support for the Cathedral through the Trust was honoured with the unveiling of a plaque, placed next to the ‘Liverpool Bell’. This plaque commemorates the ongoing support provided by Rod and Ann Walker over the years.
During the service, Dean Sue expressed heartfelt gratitude, saying:
“The bell is a symbol of faith, unity, and generosity. In the Blessing of the bell, we honour and give thanks to Commodore Roderick Walker and Ann Walker. Their benevolence through the Bathgate Walker Charitable Trust has enriched Liverpool Cathedral, supported our armed services, and uplifted local charities.
We hope that on this Centenary of Consecration, the bell may remind us of the enduring support and dedication of the Walkers, and may it inspire us all to live in generosity.”
At Bathgate, we are immensely proud of our Chairman for his unwavering commitment to charity. His generosity extends to those in need across various situations locally, regionally, and internationally. It is a privilege to share the news of his well-deserved recognition for just one aspect of his charitable work.
Rod Walker continues to be an inspirational leader for all of us, embodying the spirit of generosity and service in every aspect of his life.
